Please help us celebrate our Volunteer of the Month for September! Q: What is your name? A: Vashni, but you can call me V! Q: How long have you been with FMNR? A: For about 2 years and 5 months now. Q: What is your favorite movie? A: Tough question! But I would say it's either Norbit or School of Rock. I honestly don't know which of these movies I can recite the script better and with their matching expressions! Q:How did you start volunteering with FMNR? A: I adopted my black cat from FMNR in 2020, his name is Hunter. I have always kept in touch with Kristin since then, and as much as I can, I would donate to the FMNR fundraisers. When Hunter developed his chronic urinary issues, it was an emotional time in my life. Kristin was there to give me advice, support, and had been my guiding light during that stressful time. After Hunter's medical issues have stabilized, I decided to give back as much as I can by officially becoming a part of the rescue, to express my gratitude and loyalty. Q: What is your favorite food? A: I'm biased, I love Filipino food! If I can choose to eat one thing for the rest of my life, it's Filipino style pork barbeque! Q: What do you do as a volunteer? A: I mainly help Kristin and Amanda with reference calls for potential adopters of our rescue. I also helped out with transferring foster animal records during our system transition earlier this year. When I can, I help out with fundraisers. Recently, I baked Chocolate crinkle cookies to sell at a fundraiser, in the shape of Hunter's round face! 🐈‍⬛ A: What is your dream vacation? Q: I would say it's to go to Japan to visit Anime spots and hug a Capybara. Q: What do you wish everyone knew about volunteering? A: Working as a dental hygienist, it can be busy and stressful, but having a full-time job does not stop me from volunteering! The other thing I love besides advocating for oral health is to support animals! I would say that it is one of the most rewarding things I do! I have always been an animal lover and I grew up with many animals ranging from fishes to a pet chicken! I owe it all to my pets, because they helped me develop responsibility, compassion, and empathy at an earl
