Forget Me Not Rescue (FMNR) is a registered nonprofit organization committed to rescuing, providing veterinary care, and rehoming abandoned, abused, and neglected companion animals. Run 100% by volunteers, FMNR is donation-driven and virtually all funds go directly to animal care. All our animals are cared for in foster homes around the Chicagoland area.
Our furry friends need a safe and loving place to stay while they wait for their forever homes. The number of animals we can save is directly related to the number of foster homes we have. The process is straightforward: You provide a caring environment and we offer guidance and pay for their medical care!
Fostering isn’t right for you? Join our crew for transport, events, fundraisers, or office work. If you are willing, we'll find a position that's a good fit!
Forget Me Not Rescue is a 100% donation driven and volunteer operated organization and we need support from people like you to fuel our motto to Save The Forgotten.
Every donation - no matter how small - will make a big difference in the lives of these animals! Your contribution helps provide medical care for the many cats and dogs saved from euthanasia lists and off the streets. By working together, we can make a positive impact on the lives of these animals and the community as a whole.
Thank you for considering supporting Forget Me Not Rescue. Together, we can Save the Forgotten and give them a chance at a better life.

Q: What is your name?
A: Debra, but most people call me Debbie. 🙂
Q: How long have you been with FMNR?
A: Since 2021
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: ELVIS, starring Austin Butler! 🎶
Q: How did you start volunteering with FMNR?
A: I found a homeless kitty in a parking lot & was referred to Forget Me Not. I ended up fostering the kitty, & then Riley became my foster fail! 🥰 When I asked Kristin if she still wanted me to stay on as a volunteer, she said yes, & here I am! 🙂
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Mexican
Q: What do you do as a volunteer?
A: Right now, I transport kitties to the vet when they need medical care. I also sometimes bring them to pet stores, so that they can be showcased & find their loving, forever homes! 🥰 I hope one day to do "emergency fostering" and/or "substitute fostering." (stepping in when one of our fosters goes on vacation or has to step away temporarily for medical reasons, such as a surgery)
Q: What is your dream vacation?
A: I want to go to Hawaii to see Pearl Harbor. 🇺🇸
Q: What do you wish everyone knew about volunteering?
A: It is so rewarding to be a part of making a difference in the quality of an animal's life. Not everybody is in a position to do full-time fostering, but you can help out in many other different ways! From transporting, to fundraising, to making monetary donations, etc. There is something for everyone! 🙂
Q: What is your biggest pet peeve?
A: My biggest pet peeve is when I see the phrase, "No tags and no microchip" on a FOUND pet post. I see this almost daily on our local animal shelter's online page. Even writing a name & phone number on a pet's collar with a Sharpie would immediately reunite a lost, beloved pet with its owner.
Meet Aruna Aura: The Solar Eclipse Kitten! 🌟🐾
Born during the mesmerizing week of the 2024 solar eclipse, Aruna Aura is a dazzling grey kitten with a unique twist—a charming ‘diamond necklace’ of white fur that makes her stand out in any crowd. This little lady grew up in a lively litter full of rambunctious boys, and she's the perfect blend of gentle sweetness and tough resilience. 💫✨
Despite her dainty appearance, Aruna can hold her own with ease among other pets and loves to engage in playful antics with her siblings, especially her tiny brother, Aphelion Aura. Her playful and social nature makes her a great companion for other friendly and active pets. 🐱💕
To ensure she thrives, Aruna needs to go to a home with a playful, young cat or be adopted alongside a new furry friend. If you’re looking for a kitten who combines charm, courage, and a bit of celestial magic, Aruna Aura is your perfect match! 🌌💖
